Born in New York 26 years ago, Ashley Farrell always loved to sing. Performing since a child at talents shows, church events, and in front of anyone who'd listen, she knew music was something she was born to do.
After high school, Ashley moved to Boston, MA to attend Berklee College of Music. While at Berklee, she was blessed with the opportunity to perform with Christian recording artist Jeff Deyo. She also released her debut solo album, "Hear Me Out" before graduating with a Bachelor's Degree in Songwriting. It was during her time in Boston that she met her husband, Steve.
In the summer of 2005, she relocated to Nashville, leaving Steve in Boston while she pursued "the dream" (he would join her in TN after the wedding). Just weeks after her arrival, she signed with SESAC as one of their writers and created her own publishing company, Ahboo Music. She interned at Warner Chappell Music Publishing and EMI Christian Music Group throughout the Fall of that year, spending her spare time performing at local venues and co-writing with various songwriters.
The few months leading up to her wedding, and for almost a year after, she took a break from the music scene. She focused her time on her husband, growing closer to him and to the Lord. It was during this season that Ashley had a "musical mind shift." "Before, it was all about me," she says. "How I wanted to be successful and be the next big thing. But, I've realized that it's not about me at all. God has blessed me with this amazing gift of music. My prayer is that He'll be glorified through everything I say, sing, write and do. 'Oh, sing to the Lord a new song! For He has done marvelous things.' (Psalm 98:1)" Ashley desires not only to be heard on radio stations, but to be involved in ministries and other avenues where she can use her gifts to edify the body of Christ, bring healing to a hurting world, and above all give glory to God.
Ashley and Steve moved back to Boston in 2008 and are enjoying the journey God is leading them on. They are expecting their first child in September. Ashley's new album, The Reason That I'm Singing, is scheduled to be released this summer.
